Abstract
Tertiary benzylic boronates are extremely valuable synthetic precursors to quaternary stereogenic centers as well C-O and C-N bonds. Despite their utility, the only current synthetic route to these products employs harsh conditions that severely limit substrate scope. This research seeks to optimize a stereospecific, cross coupling synthesis of enantioenriched tertiary benzylic boronates that can tolerate a broad substrate scope. Herein, I report the syntheses of certain pivalate substrates toward this goal.
